  • 1 Heavy-bottomed saucepan (2-quart) Prevents sugar burning
  • 1 Large mixing bowl For Rice Krispies base
  • 1 Wooden spoon or heatproof spatula To stir marshmallows
  • 1 Sharp knife For clean cuts
  • 1 Parchment paper Prevents sticking
  • 1 Offset spatula (Optional) to spread caramel
  • 1 Kitchen scale (Optional) for precise measurements

Ingredients

Base

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 cups Mini marshmallows or 40 large marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoon Unsalted butter for base
  • ¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract for base
  • 1 pinch Salt for base

Salted Caramel

  • 1 cup Granulated sugar for caramel
  • ¼ cup Water for caramel
  • cup Heavy cream room temperature
  • 3 tablespoon Unsalted butter for caramel
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract for caramel
  • ½ teaspoon Flaky sea salt plus extra for topping

Instructions

  • Line pan with parchment and grease.
  • Melt butter and marshmallows, stir smooth.
  • Mix with Rice Krispies and press in pan.
  • Cook sugar + water until amber.
  • Add cream, butter, vanilla, salt.
  • Cool caramel 2–3 mins, pour over base.
  • Spread caramel, sprinkle salt.
  • Cool 2 hours, cut into squares.
