Instructions

  • Combine oats, water, and salt in a saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thick.
  • Let porridge cool to room temperature.
  • Mix warm water and yeast in a large bowl, let sit until foamy.
  • 5 Add cooled porridge, honey, and butter to the bowl.
  • Gradually add flour and salt, mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Punch down dough and shape into a loaf.
  • Place in a greased loaf pan, brush top with water, sprinkle oats.
  • Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
