Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples peeled and diced small
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Pastry

  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry thawed
  • 1 large egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoon coarse sugar for sprinkling

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Combine apples, sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Let rest 10 minutes.
  • Roll puff pastry to 12x12 inches. Cut into 16 circles.
  • Add 2 tablespoon filling to bottom circles, brush edges with egg, cover with tops, seal with fork, cut slits.
  • Brush with egg wash, sprinkle sugar, bake at 400°F for 18–22 minutes. Cool before serving.
