Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-processed preferred
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows optional
  • ¼ cup hot cocoa mix powder adds extra flavor depth
  • extra mini marshmallows for topping, optional
  • sea salt flakes for finishing, optional
  • powdered sugar for dusting, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and line baking sheets.
  • Whisk together dry ingredients.
  • Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, then mix.
  • Gradually add dry to wet ingredients.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and marshmallows.
  • Scoop dough and place on baking sheet.
  • Top with marshmallows, bake 9–11 min.
  • Cool on sheet for 5 min, then rack.
