Ingredients

Chocolate Base

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup coconut oil melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Fig Filling

  • 2 cups fresh figs chopped (or 1 ½ cups dried figs, soaked)
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoon dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Cook figs, honey, lemon, cinnamon, and water until thick; stir in chocolate chips, cool.
  • Whisk dry ingredients; combine with wet until dough forms.
  • Press ⅔ dough in pan, spread filling, crumble remaining dough on top.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 min until set.
  • Let cool 2 hrs, lift with parchment, cut into bars.
