  • 1 Large mixing bowl Preferably stainless steel or glass
  • 1 Wooden spoon For folding in flour and mix-ins
  • 1 Whisk or hand mixer Optional – makes sugar/butter mixing easier
  • 1 Measuring cups & spoons For accurate measurements
  • 1 Parchment paper For lining the pan and easy removal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter, melted Brown half for richer flavor (optional)
  • 1 cup Light brown sugar Packed
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs Room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract Pure vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 ½ cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips Reserve some for topping
  • ½ cup Chopped walnuts Optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), line pan with parchment, grease lightly.
  • Whisk melted butter and both sugars until smooth.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, salt separately, fold into wet mix.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, spread batter in pan.
  • Sprinkle reserved chips on top.
  • Bake 25–30 minutes until edges set, center slightly underbaked.
  • Cool in pan, lift with parchment, cut into squares.
