Equipment

  • 1 High-powered blender or juicer Needed to extract juice; a blender requires straining, a juicer does not
  • 1 Fine-mesh strainer/cheesecloth Use to strain pulp if using a blender
  • 1 Sharp knife For chopping beetroot and other ingredients
  • 1 Cutting board Preferably plastic to prevent beet stains on wood
  • 3–4 Glass bowls To hold chopped ingredients before juicing

Ingredients

  • 4 medium beetroot, fresh scrubbed, cubed
  • 1 cup filtered water for blending
  • 1 large carrot sliced – optional
  • 1 medium apple cored & chopped – optional
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root peeled – optional
  • ½ lemon juice to taste – optional
  • 2 stalks celery chopped – optional
  • ½ cucumber chopped – optional
  • ¼ cup orange juice optional for sweetness

Instructions

  • Wash and cube beetroot; skins optional for extra nutrients.
  • Chop carrot, apple, ginger, celery and cucumber.
  • Blend beetroot, water and extras 60-90 s; strain through sieve or cheesecloth.
  • Taste, adjust with lemon or honey, chill and enjoy.
